What are ghosts and spirits?
Concerning spirits: Spirits!...."the women in white", the laughing phantom child, man wearing a cloak or wide brimmed hat, wraith, shadow figure, misty apparition or glowing orbs.....all these examples and much more derive from folklore, campfire stories and mainstream paranormal investigation accounts. The truth is according to biblical theology the human spirit does not remain earth bound. Despite bible verses such as Matthew 14:26 "26When the disciples saw him (Jesus) walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear" and the account after Jesus's resurrection in Luke 24:36-39 "36While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”37 They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. 38 He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? 39 Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”
The disbelief of the disciples in these verses do not point out the possibility of human spirits after death. The bible actually clearly states the opposite. There is absolutely a heaven and a hell, with no middle ground for an "in between" for human spirit to be elsewhere. A great example of this is the biblical account of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16:22-26
"22The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’25 “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’
Other verses such as Psalm 146:3-4 "3Do not put your trust in princes,in human beings, who cannot save.4 When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing" shows us that when we die our plans (even in spirit) are finished here on earth. Lastly one of the most important verses is just before Jesus's death on the cross. Jesus says something very important to the criminal on the cross beside him in Luke 23:42-43 "42Then he said, 'Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.' 43 Jesus answered him, 'I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise"
To the criminal, Jesus was talking about heaven when he said "paradise". Jesus also said, TODAY, not tomorrow, not 75 years from now once your spirit is done roaming the earth and haunting your old home and taking care of unfinished business but TODAY!
If human spirits don't remain earth bound and move on to heaven or hell depending on whether a person is saved or not, then what are we dealing with in all these haunted locations?
We are in fact actually dealing with demonic spirits who are masquerading as human spirits. Why would they do this? Wouldn't they just present themselves in their true form? Often times they actually do manifest in somewhat of their true form. This includes shadow figures, dark crawling figures, dark cloaked figures, animal or beast manifestations etc.
When they do attempt to manifest as a supposed human spirit it is often times as a child or adult female. This isn't always the case as they will show themselves as literally anyone. This includes deceased loved ones and people of fame. One thing to know, is that God has certain mortal laws that demonic entities must abide by. For example because we are made in God's image a demon is prohibited from manifesting as a complete human form. This is why the skin color will be dark and most of the time grey. Facial features will be obscure or disfigured with sunken dark eyes. Certain body parts including appendages are also usually missing or disfigured. Full figures can be rare, so demons usually choose to manifest as a mere glimpse, human voices and actions such as footsteps, mischievous displacement of objects and much more. Why do they do this??? They do this because it is a complete mockery of God's precious creation...us! It also leads people to believe in spirits, thus leading them to believe that there is more to death then heaven or hell. It leads them to believe in a lie that is absolute opposite truth of biblical scripture. Just take a look at modern day mainstream media, movies and television. Ghost hunting and the paranormal is everywhere and it's teaching many people a false truth.
Concerning Residual Hauntings "ghosts": A "spirit" is either a malevolent/demonic or angelic that shows intelligence. These types of spirits (malevolent or benevolent) may choose to interact with us . A "ghost" is a non intelligent manifestation or playback. This is commonly known in this field as a "residual haunting" and does not interact with us.
Residual Hauntings: Just as video or audio tapes are made by imprinting the recording onto mylar tape, the very same is possible with our natural energy. When video or audio tapes are constructed, the recording is imprinted by using a charge that arranges the particles into patterns onto the magnetic particles within the mylar tape. When played back the imprinted patterns are picked up by the playback heads. This could very well explain how residual energies of once living people or even objects get caught in a looped playback over time. Theories in this field suggest that our energy gets imprinted into the geological environment and the building materials around us the same way. It's also believed that our energy gets recorded into our surroundings especially during times of extremely high emotions. Just as playback heads pick up the patterns for playback, certain environmental stimuli can release the imprinted energy thus resulting in a residual manifestation. Some forms of residual activity can include repeated sounds such as footsteps, crying, laughing, shutting doors, yelling and other repeated sounds. The same goes for visual appearances such as someone walking up or down stairs, walking down hallways, a person in their time of dying, soldiers on a battlefield or the appearance of someone just going about their day to day activities.
Demons: In Christian belief, the spiritual beings created by God called "Angels" (meaning "messengers") were created good (cf. Gen. 1:31). Angels, however, were created with a free will like human beings and so were able to make good or bad choices. According to the Bible, some of the angels God created made bad choices, rebelled against him, and were banished from heaven as a result (cf. Is. 14:12, Luke 10:18, Rev. 12:3-9). Fallen angels are called demons (e.g. Matt. 15:22, Mark 7:26). The Bible teaches that demons are evil in that they oppose God who is good and righteous. Because they have sinned in rebellion against God, and are not able to be forgiven like people can be, their fate is hell and eternal punishment. Jesus says demons are "cursed" and will be thrown into an "everlasting fire" (Matt. 25:41), Peter says they will undergo judgment (2 Pet. 2:4), and Jude says they are sentenced to being in chains in eternal darkness (Jude 1:6). The leader of the rebellious angels was Satan (also called The Devil), who has became God's, as well as humanity's, chief adversary. He is identified with the serpent who tempts Adam and Eve in Genesis. Demons are naturally without physicality, yet at least some have the ability to influence a person to an extent that they can control a person's body. They usually start with or can haunt any given space but can escalate quickly. This is where things get a little tough and any further information will have to be discussed in private either by scheduled phone call or case related meeting.
